FFWGSP The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has extended the * Flash Flood Warning for... Central Burke County in western North Carolina... * Until 415 AM EDT. * At 312 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain falling across central Burke County. Gauges along Johns River at Arneys Store indicate rapid stage rises. County 911 reported East Parker Rd in Morganton is closed due to water over the bridge and water is flowing over Bost Rd and Spainhour Rd in Morganton. Additional road closures are possible. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.25 to 0.5 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
