The National Weather Service in Birmingham has extended the
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Lee County in east central Alabama...
Northern Russell County in southeastern Alabama...
* Until 500 AM CDT.
* At 224 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain
have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1
hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are possible in
the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain in a tropical rain
band.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Auburn, Phenix City, Opelika, Notasulga, Smiths, Smiths Station,
Griffen Mill, Beauregard, Bleecker, Beans Mill, Beulah, Ladonia,
Auburn University, Loachapoka, Marvyn, Robert G. Pitts Airport,
Monterey Heights, Mount Jefferson, Parkmanville and Chewacla State
Park.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
