Description: 
At 635 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 2 to 3 inches in 1 hour. Catastrophic flash flooding is possible and may need a Flash Flood Emergency to follow up if conditions worsen. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Gastonia, Huntersville, Hickory, Shelby, Newton, Lincolnton, Northwest Charlotte, Cornelius, Kings Mountain, Mt Holly, St. Stephens, Belmont, Conover, Cherryville, Bessemer City, South Gastonia, Longview, Boiling Springs NC, Dallas and Maiden.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
