Wilkes County in northwestern North Carolina... * Until 300 PM EDT Friday. * At 701 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 5 and 10 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches are possible in the warned area. Additional amounts as high as 6 to 9 inches could be possible across Watauga and Ashe Counties. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding.
