The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has extended
the

Elbert County in northeastern Georgia...
Franklin County in northeastern Georgia...
Hart County in northeastern Georgia...
Stephens County in northeastern Georgia...
* Until 200 PM EDT.
* At 827 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across northeast
Georgia. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. The river
gauge at Beaverdam Creek at Brewers Mill Rd above Elberton is at 8
feet and climbing and climbing which is leading to ongoing
nuisance flooding in the area. Other nearby small streams are
likely bankfull or out of their banks. Additional rainfall amounts
of up to an inch are possible as tropical rainbands continue to
lift north this morning, and this will result in flash flooding.
The expected rainfall rate is 1.5 to 2.5 inches in 1 hour.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing
flash flooding.
SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. High
potential for life-threatening landslides. Numerous
road closures.

Toccoa, Elberton, Hartwell, Carnesville, Royston, Reed Creek,
Lavonia, Gumlog, Bowman, Canon, Franklin Springs, Bowersville,
Martin, Avalon, Victoria Bryant State Park, Tugaloo State Park,
Lake Hartwell, Russell State Park, Middleton and Lake Russell.
Do not travel unless fleeing floodwaters.

threatening roads or property to the National Weather Service

by posting on our Facebook page, or via Twitter using hashtag
NWSGSP. Your message should describe the specific location where
impacts occurred and the depth of flooding observed.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
