The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has extended
the
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Abbeville County in upstate South Carolina...
Greenwood County in upstate South Carolina...
Laurens County in upstate South Carolina...
* Until 200 PM EDT.
* At 852 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
storms producing heavy rain across Anderson, Greenwood, and
Abbeville Counties. Although the heaviest rain has ended, many
stream gauges are still rising, and some areas may be experiencing
localized flooding. Between 7 and 10 inches of rain have fallen.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing
flash flooding.
SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
Scattered road closures and first-floor inundation may
still be ongoing, primarily in the vicinity of
overflowing streams.

Greenwood, Laurens, Abbeville, Clinton, Fountain Inn, Honea Path,
Ware Shoals, Calhoun Falls, Ninety Six, Joanna, Due West, Gray
Court, Lake Secession, Cross Hill, Donalds, Cokesbury, Waterloo,
Hodges, Lowndesville and Troy.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
