Wilkes County in northwestern North Carolina... * Until 630 PM EDT. * At 404 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 6 and 9 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring. This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Ashe, Watauga, Alleghany, and Wilkes Counties. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW! HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.
