Southeastern Hamblen County in east Tennessee... * Until 400 PM EDT. * At 1136 AM EDT, dam operators reported excessive water flow over the Nolichucky Dam. The risk of a dam failure remains imminent, which would cause flash flooding downstream on the Nolichucky River. This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for towns and cities immediately below Nolichucky Dam on the Nolichucky River. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW! HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding from the imminent breach may occur downstream of Nolichucky Dam. SOURCE...Dam operator. IMPACT...This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW! IMMEDIATE EVACUATION for areas downstream from the Nolichucky Dam along the Nolichucky River. * The nearest downstream town is rural areas in southwest Greene County, located downstream from the dam.
