Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Avery and Caldwell Counties in western North Carolina.
* WHEN...Until 1115 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Some low-water crossings may become impassable.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 725 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated gauges indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5
and 3 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding. Wilson Creek and its tributaries are known to flood
some low-lying areas adjacent to the creeks and along Highway
90.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Edgemont, Globe, Jonas Ridge, and a portion of the Blue Ridge
Parkway between Linville Falls and Grandfather Mountain,

impacts occurred and the depth of flooding observed.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
