* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Avery and Caldwell Counties in western North Carolina. * WHEN...Until 1115 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 725 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. Wilson Creek and its tributaries are known to flood some low-lying areas adjacent to the creeks and along Highway 90. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Edgemont, Globe, Jonas Ridge, and a portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway between Linville Falls and Grandfather Mountain, - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
