...The National Weather Service in Peachtree City GA has issued a
Flood Warning for the following rivers in Georgia...
Oconee River near Oconee affecting Wilkinson, Johnson and
Washington Counties.
* WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Oconee River near Oconee.
* WHEN...From Friday evening until further notice.
* IMPACTS...At 17.0 feet, Flood stage is reached. The water level
reaches the top of the Old Balls Ferry Road boat ramp...just
upstream and right bank from the Georgia Highway 57 bridge. Minor
flooding of woodlands near the river occurs.
At 23.0 feet, Moderate flooding continues. Portions of the Old Balls
Ferry Road leading to the boat ramp becomes flooded with a foot of
water or more. The entire dirt parking lot near the boat ramp is
under three to five feet of water. Extensive flooding of the
woodlands near the river continues.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 10:45 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 1.3 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
late Friday evening and continue rising to a crest of 23.0
feet Monday evening.
- Flood stage is 17 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
23.1 feet on 09/30/2004.
