Broad River In NC At Boiling Springs affecting Cleveland County.
...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in North
Carolina...South Carolina...
Broad River In SC Near Blacksburg affecting Cleveland and
Cherokee Counties.
.Ongoing rain associated with Helene will continue overnight tonight
into Friday morning. Considerable to catastrophic Moderate to Major
flooding across the Broad River is expected as a result of this
extremely rare high rainfall.
There is a potential for crests to exceed the current forecast
crests. Please maintain awareness of the latest forecasts and plan
NOW to respond in case more significant flooding is expected.
* WHAT...Major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of
record.
* WHERE...Broad River In SC near Blacksburg.
* WHEN...From late tonight to late Sunday morning.
* IMPACTS...At 24.0 feet, Moderate Flooding continues. The Broad
River may be significantly restricting operations at Lockhart Dam
and may be overtopping Cherokee Falls Dam.
At 25.0 feet, Major Flood Stage. Record flooding is ongoing.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 7:30 PM EDT Thursday the stage was 10.0 feet and rising
rapidly.
- Action/Advisory stage is 13.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
late tonight to a crest of 24.6 feet tomorrow evening. It
will then fall below flood stage late Saturday evening.
- Minor Flood Stage is 16.0 feet.
Moderate Flood Stage is 22.0 feet.
Major Flood Stage is 20.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
24.2 feet on 02/07/2020.
