increased in duration for the following rivers in Georgia...
Chattooga River at Summerville affecting Chattooga County.
For the Chattooga River...including Summerville...Moderate flooding
is forecast.
* WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Chattooga River at Summerville.
* WHEN...Until tomorrow afternoon.
* IMPACTS...At 19 feet, Significant flooding expands further into
woodlands and fields along the river upstream and downstream from
the gage on Rome Boulevard. In Trion...portions of the parking lot
at Mount Vernon Mills...yards of homes on First and Second Streets
near the levee...and athletic fields off Dalton Street are flooded
with two feet of water. The water reaches the personnel office
foundation at Mount Vernon Mills. Also near Lyerly...portions of
Lyerly Dam Road near the river are flooded with two feet of water.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:45 AM EDT Friday the stage was 6.8 feet and rising.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
this afternoon to a crest of 18.7 feet this evening. It will
then fall below flood stage late tomorrow morning.
- Flood stage is 14 feet.
