This exceeds the flood of record. * WHERE...Swannanoa River at Biltmore. * WHEN...Until early Sunday morning. * IMPACTS...At 26.0 feet, Record Flood Stage. This stage last occurred in April of 1791 according to Tennessee Valley Authority records. Catastrophic flooding of the Swannanoa River Valley is likely and devastating damage is likely in Biltmore Village. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 11:00 AM EDT Friday the stage was a record 22.7 feet. - Bankfull stage is 8.5 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 11:00 AM EDT Friday was 22.7 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 27.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow afternoon. - Minor Flood Stage is 10.0 feet. Moderate Flood Stage is 14.5 feet. Major Flood Stage is is 16.5 feet.
