...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in
Tennessee...
Pigeon River At Newport TN affecting Cocke County.
For the Pigeon River...including Newport TN...Major flooding is
forecast.
* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
This approaches the flood of record.
* WHERE...Pigeon River at Newport TN.
* WHEN...Until further notice.
* IMPACTS...At 18.0 feet, Level of berm in yard on right bank,
across from gage. No damage to house, but Jimtown Road (under
Southern RR bridge) impassable. A building behind the Newport
Police building on Main Street takes water.
At 23.4 feet, Flood of Record.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 11:00 AM EDT Friday the stage was 19.3 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 8.0 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 11:00 AM EDT Friday was 19.3 feet.
- Forecast...The river will rise to 23.0 feet this evening. It
will then fall Monday evening. It will rise to 9.1 feet early
Tuesday morning. It will then fall again but remain above
flood stage.
- Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
