...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in South
Carolina...
Saluda River At West Pelzer affecting Greenville and Anderson
Counties.
Saluda River Near above Old Easley Rd, 5 W Greenville affecting
Pickens and Greenville Counties.
.Flooding along the Saluda has the potential to be the worst
flooding observed in the modern era, exceeding even the flooding
which occurred on February 6-7, 2020, and rivaling the flooding from
1949. Flooding could shutdown several roadways, especially above
Piedmont Dam to the Saluda River headwaters above Saluda Lake. A
few roadways may experience strong and damaging streamflows,
possibly causing damage to roadway infrastructure including culverts
and bridges. Several structures, including homes and businesses,
are likely to be inundated as a result of Major flooding. A few
structures may become uninhabitable and some structures may become
completely destroyed due to ruinous flooding.
* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
This approaches the flood of record.
* WHERE...Saluda River near above Old Easley Rd, 5 W Greenville.
* WHEN...Until Sunday evening.
* IMPACTS...At 15.0 feet, Major Flood Stage. Significant inundation
of basements and crawlspaces and onset inundation of some homes
downstream of Saluda Dam is imminent, primarily along Shop Ct,
Covenant Dr, Riverview Cir, Shady Acres Cir, and Old Easley Bridge
Rd. Residents are urged to follow all guidance from Anderson,
Greenville, and Pickens County Emergency Management. Actions to
protect property should have been completed. Evacuations may be
imminent. Streamlevels are similar to those that occurred on
September 9, 2004.
At 16.0 feet, Major Flood Stage continues. The Saluda River has
reached the highest levels seen in the modern era. The Saluda
River crested at 16.13 ft on February 6, 2020. Floodwaters of 1-3
feet deep may be inundating buildings closest to the river on Shop
Ct. Floodwaters of at least 1 foot deep are inundating the lowest
elevations of Riverview Dr near the intersection with Knollview Dr
and the lowest elevations of adjacent residential yards with
several feet of water.

- At 11:45 AM EDT Friday the stage was 16.8 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 8.0 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 11:45 AM EDT Friday was 16.8 feet.
- Forecast...The river will rise to 18.9 feet this evening. It
will then fall below flood stage Sunday morning to 4.4 feet
Monday evening. It will rise to 4.7 feet early Tuesday
morning. It will then fall again and remain below flood
stage.
- Flood stage is 9.5 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
16.1 feet on 02/07/2020.

Instruction:
This is an incredibly dangerous situation. Rainfall and resultant
flooding has the potential to be a once-in-a-lifetime event,
especially upstream of Piedmont, SC. If you live or own a business
adjacent to the Saluda River, assume floodwaters WILL impact your
structures.
This warning will be in effect until the river falls below its
Action/Advisory Stage.
