increased in duration for the following rivers in North Carolina...
Broad River In NC At Boiling Springs affecting Cleveland County.
.Forecast levels along the Broad River will be around the record
level. This remains a dangerous situation and please remain wary of
these record high water levels.
* WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is
forecast.
* WHERE...Broad River In NC at Boiling Springs.
* WHEN...Until early Sunday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Major Flood Stage. The Broad River has
reached levels similar to those seen in August 1940. Devastating
flooding of numerous homes near the river within the Abe's
Mountain vicinity is likely underway. Significant and
record-level floodwaters are inundating lower elevation trails and
picnic areas of the Broad River Greenway.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 12:15 PM EDT Friday the stage was 19.6 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 10.0 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 12:15 PM EDT Friday was 19.6 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 21.4
feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage early
Sunday morning.
- Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
22.1 feet on 08/14/1940.
