issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Virginia...
South River near Waynesboro affecting Augusta and City of
Waynesboro independent cities.
For the South River...including Waynesboro...Minor flooding is
forecast.
* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...South River near Waynesboro.
* WHEN...From late tonight to late tomorrow morning.
* IMPACTS...At 10.0 feet, Portions of the Club Court neighborhood,
Rife Road, and Shore Road, along with nearby homes, are flooded.
Water also reaches low lying areas of downtown Waynesboro.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 3:15 PM EDT Friday the stage was 7.6 feet, or 1.9 feet
below flood stage.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
just after midnight tonight to a crest of 9.8 feet just after
midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage late
tonight.
- Flood stage is 9.5 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
10.0 feet on 05/30/1971.
