South River near Waynesboro affecting Augusta and City of
Waynesboro independent cities.
For the South River...including Waynesboro...Moderate flooding is
forecast.
* WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is
forecast.
* WHERE...South River near Waynesboro.
* WHEN...Until tomorrow evening.
* IMPACTS...At 13.0 feet, Numerous homes and businesses in
Waynesboro are flooded, along with many roads.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 6:15 PM EDT Friday the stage was 11.7 feet, or 2.2 feet
above flood stage.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 6:15 PM EDT Friday was 11.7 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 12.5
feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage early
tomorrow afternoon.
- Flood stage is 9.5 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
