* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of western North Carolina, including the following county, Madison. * WHEN...Until 600 AM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 916 PM EDT, Excessive runoff will continue to work through the lower French Broad basin into the night. Remain wary of lingering and ongoing flooding on the French Broad River and select tributaries. Watch for areas were debris flows had occurred earlier and be wary of tree, utility line and building damage. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Heavy rain had significantly increased the risk of landslides, especially in areas where slides have occurred in the past. Slides can destroy single homes and other structures and large sections of roads. If you are in the warned area, you should not travel, except to move away from flash flood or landslide dangers.
