Carolina...
Yadkin River At Elkin affecting Yadkin and Surry Counties.
For the Yadkin River...including Elkin...Moderate flooding is
forecast.
* WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is
forecast.
* WHERE...Yadkin River at Elkin.
* WHEN...Until tomorrow afternoon.
* IMPACTS...At 24.0 feet, Two to three blocks of Elkin are inundated.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:00 PM EDT Friday the stage was 23.5 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 16.0 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 9:00 PM EDT Friday was 24.1 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
late tonight and continue falling to 2.6 feet Wednesday
evening.
- Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
Instruction:
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas. Do not approach the river banks as the
ground may be slippery and the river current strong enough to carry
a person away.
