...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Georgia... Flint River near Griffin affecting Spalding and Fayette Counties. For the Flint River Basin...including Griffin...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Flint River near Griffin. * WHEN...Until late tomorrow evening. * IMPACTS...At 19.0 feet, Significant flooding expands upstream and downstream from Georgia Highway 16. Flood waters reach the fire station parking lot and hit the bridge. Officials will likely close it. Wildcat Creek backs up and floods a portion of West Ellis Road around two feet deep. The backyards of homes at the end of Landing Way will be flooded around 6 feet deep with water close to entering a few homes. The USGS gage house under the bridge will be submerged in two feet of water. A loss of data transmission will be likely. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 11:45 PM EDT Friday the stage was 15.7 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 18.9 feet Saturday afternoon.
