...The Flood Warning continues for Saluda River in South Carolina...
At West Pelzer affecting Greenville and Anderson Counties.
Above Old Easley Rd, 5 W Greenville affecting Greenville and
Pickens Counties.
.Devastating flooding continues across the Saluda River valley
following historic 9 to 21 (twenty-one) inch rainfall accumulations
caused a stationary front interacting with tropical moisture and
Tropical Storm Helene. The Saluda River below Saluda Lake is
beginning a prolonged crest near 19.0 feet, while downstream, the
river will continue to rise until tomorrow afternoon. The river
will not fall back below Action/Advisory Stage until late Sunday.
Flooding along the Saluda River is the worst flooding observed in
the modern era, exceeding even the flooding which occurred on
February 6-7, 2020. Catastrophic flooding of several areas along
the river is ongoing, including along Riverview Dr, Riverview Cir,
Shady Acres Cir, Old Easley Bridge Rd, Lakeview Dr, Dolly Cooper
Park, Old Dunham Bridge Rd, Riverside Dr, Lyman St, and Adger St.
This flooding is impacting several homes, forcing evacuation and
relocation.
* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
The river is approaching, but will not likely exceed, the flood of
record.
* WHERE...Saluda River near above Old Easley Rd, 5 W Greenville.
* WHEN...Until tomorrow evening.
* IMPACTS...At 15.0 feet, Major Flood Stage. Significant inundation
of basements and crawlspaces and onset inundation of some homes
downstream of Saluda Dam is imminent, primarily along Shop Ct,
Covenant Dr, Riverview Cir, Shady Acres Cir, and Old Easley Bridge
Rd. Residents are urged to follow all guidance from Anderson,
Greenville, and Pickens County Emergency Management. Actions to
protect property should have been completed. Evacuations may be
imminent. Streamlevels are similar to those that occurred on
September 9, 2004.
* At 16.0 feet, Major Flood Stage continues. The Saluda River has
reached the highest levels seen in the modern era. The Saluda
River crested at 16.13 ft on February 6, 2020. Floodwaters of 1-3
feet deep may be inundating buildings closest to the river on Shop
Ct. Floodwaters of at least 1 foot deep are inundating the lowest
elevations of Riverview Dr near the intersection with Knollview Dr
and the lowest elevations of adjacent residential yards with
several feet of water.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 11:45 PM EDT Friday the stage was 18.9 feet and nearing
crest.
- Action/Advisory Stage is 8.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 19.0
feet this morning. It will then fall below Minor Flood Stage
early tomorrow afternoon.
- Minor Flood Stage is 9.5 feet.
Moderate Flood Stage is 13.0 feet.
Major Flood Stage is 15.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
18.1 feet on 10/05/1964. This flood is the most significant
in the modern era. The Saluda River reached 16.13 feet on
February 7, 2020, which was the most significant flood this
century.

Instruction:
Residents are urged to heed all evacuation and shelter guidance from
Greenville County, Pickens County, and Anderson County Emergency
Management. Drivers are urged to obey all barricades which are in
place for your safety and for the safety of those that protect you.
Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
This warning will be in effect until the river falls below its
Action/Advisory Stage.
