Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Central and Southern Pickens County, South Carolina * WHEN...Until 1100 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 542 AM EDT, Streamgauges indicate many low-lying areas are still trying to recover following extreme rainfall accumulations across Pickens County. Twelemile Creek is receding but remains above Minor Flood Stage, Eighteenmile Creek is receding but remains above Action/Advisory Stage, and the small tributaries feeding the Saluda are likely experiencing backwater effects. Area low-lying areas will have difficulty removing areas of residual flooding due to saturated soils and there have been reports of isolated overland flow onto roadways making travel hazardous. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
