Sopchoppy River near Sopchoppy (FR 343) affecting Wakulla County. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Sopchoppy River near Sopchoppy (FR 343). * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 30.0 feet, The Painted Bridge begins to flood at this level. Homes on stilts in low lying areas in the city of Sopchoppy will experience flooding on the ground level. At 32.0 feet, Water reaches the base of the FR-343 bridge in the Apalachicola National Forest. Access into many areas along the river north of the City of Sopchoppy becomes severely restricted. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:30 AM EDT Saturday the stage was 32.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 10:30 AM EDT Saturday was 33.2 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall to 28.4 feet late Monday morning. - Flood stage is 28.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 32.2 feet on 03/04/2002. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
