...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in South Carolina... Saluda River At West Pelzer affecting Anderson and Greenville Counties. Saluda River Near above Old Easley Rd, 5 W Greenville affecting Greenville and Pickens Counties. .Devastating flooding continues across the Saluda River valley following historic 9 to 21 (twenty-one) inch rainfall accumulations caused a stationary front interacting with tropical moisture and Tropical Storm Helene. The Saluda River below Saluda Lake is beginning a prolonged crest near 20 feet, while downstream, the river will continue to rise for several more hours. The river will not fall back below Action/Advisory Stage until late Sunday. Flooding along the Saluda River is the worst flooding observed in the modern era, exceeding even the flooding which occurred on February 6-7, 2020. Catastrophic flooding of several areas along the river is ongoing, including along Riverview Dr, Riverview Cir, Shady Acres Cir, Old Easley Bridge Rd, Lakeview Dr, Dolly Cooper Park, Old Dunham Bridge Rd, Riverside Dr, Lyman St, and Adger St. This flooding is impacting several homes, forcing evacuation and relocation. * WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of record. * WHERE...Saluda River near above Old Easley Rd, 5 W Greenville. * WHEN...Until tomorrow evening. * IMPACTS...At 16.0 feet, Major Flood Stage continues. The Saluda River has reached the highest levels seen in the modern era. The Saluda River crested at 16.13 ft on February 6, 2020. Floodwaters of 1-3 feet deep may be inundating buildings closest to the river on Shop Ct. Floodwaters of at least 1 foot deep are inundating the lowest elevations of Riverview Dr near the intersection with Knollview Dr and the lowest elevations of adjacent residential yards with several feet of water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 11:45 AM EDT Saturday the stage was 20.2 feet. - Bankfull stage is 8.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 11:45 AM EDT Saturday was 20.2 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 20.2 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow morning. - Flood stage is 9.5 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 19.4 feet on 10/07/1949. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
