...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Georgia...
Flint River near Griffin affecting Fayette and Spalding Counties.
For the Flint River Basin...including Lovejoy, Peachtree City,
Fayetteville, Americus, Peachtree City, Woolsey, Sharpsburg,
Peachtree City, Peachtree City, Senoia, Griffin, Griffin, Orchard
Hill, Thomaston, Molena, Carsonville, Montezuma, Byromville...
Moderate flooding is forecast.
* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Flint River near Griffin.
* WHEN...Until early Monday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...At 17 feet, Moderate flooding begins. Significant
flooding occurs upstream and downstream from Georgia Highway 16.
The recylcing center behind the fire station will begin to flood.
Wildcat Creek upstream will backup and begin to flood a portion of
West Ellis Road. The backyards of homes at the end of Landing Way
will be under 4 feet of water. The flood waters will reach the
foundations of a few homes and be under the wooden decks. The
water level will be close to the bottom of the USGS gage house
under the bridge.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:30 PM EDT Saturday the stage was 16.7 feet and falling.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
Monday morning and continue falling to 3.6 feet Thursday
evening.
- Flood stage is 12 feet.
