...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Georgia...
Chattahoochee River near Whitesburg affecting Heard, Carroll and
Coweta Counties.
For the Chattahoochee River Basin...including Whitesburg...Minor
flooding is forecast.
* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Chattahoochee River near Whitesburg.
* WHEN...Until late this evening.
* IMPACTS...At 21.0 feet, Moderate flooding begins. Significant
flooding occurs in the woodlands and fields upstream and
downstream from the gage. The Riverside Park next to the bridge
will be under two feet of water. Flood waters will surround some
homes at the end of Bob Brewster Road. Moore Creek will back up
and flood portions of Payton Road near Cliff Payton Circle. The
water reaches the top of the boat ramp at the day use area and the
top of the steps at the north camping site in the Chattahoochee
Bend State Park.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 4:45 AM EDT Sunday the stage was 20.6 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 4:45 AM EDT Sunday was 21.5 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
late this afternoon and continue falling to 4.5 feet Thursday
evening.
- Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
20.5 feet on 03/14/1952.
