Description:
At 330 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles southeast of
Clayton, or near Tallulah Gorge State Park, moving northeast at 30
mph.
HAZARD...Golf ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail
damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind
damage to trees and power lines.
Locations impacted include...
Highlands, Salem, Lakemont, Tallulah Gorge State Park, Oconee State
Park, Mountain Rest, Long Creek, Pine Mountain, Tallulah Falls, and
Lake Rabun.
Instruction:
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside
should move to a shelter, inside a strong building and away from
windows.
