Description:
At 949 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles east of Newland, or near B.R. Parkway-Linville Falls To
Grandfather, moving north at 30 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Blowing Rock In Caldwell County, Sugar Mountain, Seven Devils,
Grandfather Mountain State Park, B.R. Parkway-Linville Falls To
Grandfather, Banner Elk, Edgemont, Globe, Pineola, and Upton.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
