Description:
At 911 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking gusty showers 7 miles
southeast of Newton, or 4 miles east of Maiden, moving north at 15
mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Newton, Conover, Maiden, Claremont, Catawba, St. Stephens, Bandys,
and Sherrills Ford.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
Conditions are favorable for development of a very brief, weak
tornado. Be prepared to take immediate action if a tornado is sighted
or a Tornado Warning is issued.
