The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) has update the Air Quality Alert. It remains in effect for today through Friday July 17, 2026, for elevated levels of fine particulate due to wildfire smoke. Concentrations will be in the Hazardous range for all areas. This is a Statewide Air Quality Alert. Plumes of smoke from Canadian wildfires continue to drift across the region. Elevated fine particulate due to the smoke will continue through Friday.

An Air Quality Action Day for PM 2.5 has been issued. Fine particulate levels are expected to be in the very unhealthy to unhealthy range. Here are some recommended actions that the public can take: * Walk, bike, carpool or use public transportation. * Avoid using the drive-through and combine errands into one trip.
