Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an air quality index value of 100 for Fine Particulates. The air quality index...or AQI...was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern.

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection has issued an Air Quality Alert for Fine Particulates until noon EDT Thursday. An Air Quality Alert means that Fine Particulates concentrations within the region may approach or exceed levels that are unhealthy for sensitive groups. Air is unhealthy for sensitive children and adults, such as those with asthma, lung or heart disease, and older adults. Sensitive children and adults should limit prolonged outdoor activity.
