Most dry grasses, dead leaves, and other tree litter could easily ignite and spread fire quickly. A statewide burn ban issued by the North Carolina Forest Service is currently in place. Breezy winds between 15-20 mph are expected during the day on Saturday. In addition, relative humidity values are likely to decrease to 20 to 30 percent during the afternoon hours. While there will be an increasing chance of showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon, storms may initially arrive with a risk of lightning but with limited rainfall. The combination of all of these factors will result in an increased risk of wildfires and fire spread.
