Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by an ice jam continues. * WHERE...Holy Cross. * WHEN...Until 100 AM AKDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 955 PM AKDT, water continues to recede on Saturday but low lying areas are still impacted. Three days of inundation has left substantial stranded water and the airport runway is still inoperable. - The breakup front was located approximately 12 miles downriver of Mountain Village as of 7 PM Saturday. It is moving slowly into the remaining in-place ice. Plenty of high water is still pushing down the river from the jam near Holy Cross a few days ago. As the surge of high water moves downstream, it is causing flooding in several communities along the Yukon. - http://www.weather.gov/aprfc
