* WHAT...Snow and blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations up to 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. Visibility reduced to 1/2 mile or less at times. Ice accumulations of a light glaze. * WHERE...Nunivak Island and the Kuskokwim Delta. * WHEN...Until 10 AM AKDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Visibilities reduced to one half mile or less due to blowing snow. Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A frontal boundary moving northward across the Bering will bring light to moderate snowfall beginning this afternoon. Snowfall will begin first over Mekoryuk, with stronger winds and gusts moving in overnight into Wednesday morning. Nunivak Island will see the most pronounced impacts from snow and winds, however Toksook Bay will see similar conditions by Tuesday evening. The area north and west of Bethel will see blowing snow and gusty winds as well, but a quicker transition to liquid precipitation. Areas further inland and south are expected to remain outside the core of the winds. A period of freezing rain mixed with snow is expected for both the coast and inland areas (including Bethel) early Wednesday morning before surface temperatures warm above freezing.
