* WHAT...Surf 2 to 4 feet, with sets to 5 feet this morning. * WHERE...San Diego County Coastal Areas and Orange County Coastal Areas. * WHEN...Through 9 AM this morning. * IMPACTS...Hazardous swimming conditions and minor tidal overflow. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...High tides of 6.5 to 7 ft combined with elevated surf may result in minor tidal overflow for beach parking lots and boardwalks. Highest surf will be on west/northwest facing beaches.
Instruction: 
A beach hazards statement for elevated surf means that waves will be high enough to cause danger to inexperienced swimmers in the water. Elevated surf also frequently results in strong rip currents which can drag people away from the shore and possibly result in drowning. Always swim near a lifeguard.
