Description:
* WHAT...Heavy snow above 7000 feet. Additional snow accumulations
of 5 to 10 inches above 7000 feet. An additional 2 to 4 inches of
snow possible for communities along Highway 395. Southwesterly
wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph across lower elevations with gusts up
to 60 mph in wind prone locations along US-395. Wind gusts up to
90 mph along ridges.
* WHERE...Mono County.
* WHEN...Until 5 PM PDT Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult through Sierra passes.
The hazardous conditions could impact today and Wednesday
commutes. Strong winds could cause damage to trees and power lines.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong and gusty winds are anticipated today
with potentially damaging winds this afternoon. Locally greater
snow totals are possible with heavier snow bands. Isolated
lightning is also possible along the Sierra crest today and
Wednesday afternoons.
