* WHAT...Flooding caused by an ice jam continues. * WHERE...Russian Mission. * WHEN...Until 100 AM AKDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 909 PM AKDT, The ice jam 10 miles downriver from Russian Mission released Wednesday evening, but a secondary ice jam was adjacent to Holy Cross and extended about 6 miles downriver is still in place Thursday evening. The Holy Cross runway is completely submerged and numerous structures in the lower part of town are surrounded with water being reported in several homes. At Anvik and Grayling, water levels continued to rise on Wednesday with low lying roads and a few structures being inundated. When the Holy Cross ice jam releases, additional rising water and flooding is likely at Russian Mission. - Little change in the Russian Mission ice jam was observed by the River Watch team. Thursday will be day 4 for this ice jam and while most jams do fail in a few days, this one may last longer. Downriver from Russian Mission, the River Watch team overflew Marshall and Pilot Station. This ice is very rotten and shifted in the Marshall area but some stronger in place ice was visible near Pilot Station. - http://www.weather.gov/aprfc
