Southwestern Sangamon County in central Illinois...
* Until 330 PM CDT.
* At 227 PM CDT, a dust channel was over Divernon, or 7 miles
northeast of Virden, and is nearly stationary.
HAZARD...Near zero visibility with strong wind in excess of 40
mph.
SOURCE...Law enforcement.
IMPACT...Dangerous life-threatening travel.
* This includes the following highways...
Interstate 55 between mile markers 80 and 92.
Interstate 72 between mile markers 83 and 99.
Locations impacted include...
Springfield, Chatham, Auburn, Pawnee, New Berlin, Divernon, Loami,
Southern View, Curran, Berlin, and Glenarm.
Instruction:
Dust storms lead to dangerous driving conditions with visibility
reduced to near zero. If driving, avoid dust storms if possible. If
caught in one, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your
foot off the brake.
