At 442 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Lime Creek County Park, or near Independence, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Independence, Winthrop, Quasqueton, Brandon, Rowley, Lime Creek County Park, Monti, and Independence Airport. This includes Interstate 380 between mile markers 49 and 55.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 900 PM CDT for northeastern Iowa. Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside should move to a shelter, inside a strong building and away from windows. To report severe weather contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will send your report to the National Weather Service office in the Quad Cities.
