Urgency:
Future
Effective:
June 8, 2026 - 6:01pm
Expires:
June 9, 2026 - 5:00am
Description:
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...Portions of north central Kansas, including the following
counties, Jewell, Mitchell, Osborne, Phillips, Rooks and Smith and
south central Nebraska, including the following counties, Franklin,
Furnas, Harlan and Webster.
* WHEN...Until 7 AM CDT Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Monday afternoon and evening, portions of the Watch area will
receive, or have already received 2-4 inches of rain in a short
time, with some flooding already occurring. While much of the
area will see at least a few, if not several hours of dry weather
in the wake of the first round of storms, another round of
thunderstorms could move across the area from west- to-east
overnight, mainly between Midnight and sunrise Tuesday. This
possible second round of storms could dump as much as 1-2 inches
of rain in a short time, which could cause additional flooding
issues...especially if additional heavy rain falls over places
that already received at least 2 inches of rain from the first
round of storms.
