Description:
At 447 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Fount, or 9 miles northeast of Barbourville, moving northeast at 30
mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Barbourville, Cannon, Haven, Brightshade, Emmanuel, Barnyard, Salt
Gum, Hinkle, Goose Rock, Ogle, Lipps, Jarvis, Girdler, Heidrick,
Plank, Baileys Switch, Jonsee, Ice Cliff, Park Valley, and Cottongin.
THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING HIGHWAYS...
Hal Rogers Parkway between mile markers 22 and 26.
U.S. Highway 25 East in Knox County between mile markers 6 and 8,
and between mile markers 12 and 16.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for
southeastern Kentucky.
