A Levee Failure in the Little Black River Watershed in...
Northern Cheboygan County in northern Michigan...
* Until 1000 AM EDT Wednesday.
* At 1258 AM EDT, a failure of a Levee in the Little Black River
Watershed continues with flash flooding of immediately surrounding
areas. This is unrelated to current activities at the Cheboygan
Dam.
HAZARD...Flash flooding from a levee failure.
SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.
IMPACT...Flooding of areas near the levee break.
* US-23 shoreline from approximately Pries Landing south to the
Cheboygan River, down to Lincoln St, back along Count St, to
Levering Rd, and Inverness Trail, up to the US-23 shoreline.
This includes the following streams and drainages...
South Br Little Black River, West Br Little Black River, and
Little Black River.
Instruction:
If you are in low lying areas along the Levee Breach of the Little
Black River Watershed you should move to higher ground immediately.
Follow evacuation instructions provided by your local emergency
officials. Do not attempt to drive across flooded roadways.
Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life.
Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.
