At 247 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Pickerel Lake, or 15 miles southwest of Onaway, moving northeast at 40 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. This severe storm will be near... Afton around 250 PM EDT. Onaway, Tower, and Allis Township around 255 PM EDT. Onaway State Park around 305 PM EDT. Ocqueoc and Black Lake around 310 PM EDT. Huron Beach around 315 PM EDT. Forty Mile Point around 330 PM EDT. Other locations impacted by this severe thunderstorm include Pigeon River State Forest and Moltke Township.
Instruction: 
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. If on or near any inland lakes or rivers across southeastern Cheboygan and northwestern Presque Isle counties, get away from the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
