...The National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley has issued a Flood
Warning for the following rivers in Nebraska...
Turkey Creek near De Witt affecting Gage and Saline Counties.
.A significant amount of rain has fallen upstream of De Witt,
specifically in areas of Swan Creek and Turkey Creek. There is some
uncertainty in the potential rise as this water moves toward De Witt.
Interests along these rivers and in De Witt should be prepared for
higher rises as more rain is on the way.
* WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Turkey Creek near De Witt.
* WHEN...From Saturday morning to Sunday evening.
* IMPACTS...At 25.0 feet, Water begins to overtop Blueridge Drive and
likely many county roads along the river.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 10:45 PM CDT Friday the stage was 11.1 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late
tomorrow morning to a crest of 25.9 feet early Sunday morning. It
will then fall below flood stage early Sunday afternoon.
- Flood stage is 23.5 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 25.6
feet on 05/07/2007.
Instruction:
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars
through flooded areas.
Even six inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your
feet and a depth of two feet will float your car. Never try to walk,
swim, or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood
waters, stop, turn around and don't drown.
