...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM MDT THIS EVENING DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR THE NORTHWEST PLATEAU, WEST CENTRAL MOUNTAINS, AND WEST CENTRAL BASIN AND RANGE... .Strong southwest winds combined with low humidity and dry fuels will create a greater risk for rapid fire spread from any new sparks over much of western New Mexico this afternoon. * AFFECTED AREA...Northwest Plateau (Zone 101), West Central Mountains (Zone 105), and West Central Basin and Range (Zone 109). * TIMING...From noon today to 8 PM MDT this evening. * 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, except up to 45 mph around Gallup. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum Relative Humidity values from 8 to 12 percent, except around 15 percent in the Chuska Mountains. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
