This local statement provides important information and recommended actions for people in Guam and the Northern Marianas. .WATCHES/WARNINGS... A Typhoon Warning continues for Rota, Tinian, and Saipan. A Typhoon Warning continues for Alamagan, Pagan, and Agrihan. A Tropical Storm Warning and a Typhoon Watch continues for Guam. A Flood Watch is in effect for all of Guam and the Northern Marianas. Please listen closely for any Flood Warnings that might be in effect for your area. Please check the latest public and marine forecasts for detailed information about additional hazards. .STORM INFORMATION... At 945 PM ChST...the center of Super Typhoon Sinlaku (04W) was located near latitude 14.9N...longitude 145.8E. This was about 15 miles east-southeast of Tinian, 15 miles south-southeast of Saipan and 120 miles northeast of Guam. Storm motion was north-northwest, 320 degrees, at 5 mph. Storm intensity was 150 mph. .SITUATION OVERVIEW... Super Typhoon Sinlaku (04W) is starting to make landfall on the eastern shores of Tinian and Saipan. The inner eyewall has winds up to 150 mph possible. Due to the slow forward speed, a prolong period of winds excess of 115 mph is expected as Sinlaku passes over or near Tinian and Saipan over the next few hours. Strong Tropical Storm force winds continue across Guam and Rota.
Instruction: 
People should be in a designated shelter or in a sturdy and reinforced concrete building to ride out the storm as strong tropical storm force winds are are occurring at Rota, while devastating winds in excess of 115 mph are expected at Tinian and Saipan over the next few hours as the STY Sinlaku moves near or over Tinian and Saipan. These winds will continue through the overnight hours before starting to decrease Wednesday morning. Due to the size of the storm, tropical storm force winds are not expected to end until Wednesday night for Rota and late Thursday morning for Tinian and Saipan. Even when winds start to decrease, remain indoors until the "all clear" is given. Stay indoors during heavy rain and windy conditions associated with Super Typhoon Sinlaku (04W). The window of time to complete preparations for the protection of life and property has closed. Find shelter to ride out the storm. Remain in a sturdy shelter until the "all clear" is given. Northeasterly tropical storm force winds around 39 mph are expected to increase tonight with typhoon winds around 75 mph starting late tonight or early We as Sinlaku passes near to the west, and winds shift toward the southeast. The size of the storm and overall storm motion will maintain southeast tropical storm winds through Friday afternoon as Sinlaku continues on its accelerated northward trek after exiting the Marianas later in the week. .COASTAL INUNDATION AND SURF INFORMATION... Seas of 20 to 30 feet remain possible, with dangerous surf and significant coastal inundation and beach erosion possible. .OTHER STORM EFFECTS... Heavy, intense rainfall with STY Sinlaku is likely for much of the week, bringing rainfall amounts of 10 to 13 inches by Friday, with rainfall amounts upwards of 15 to 25 inches near the center, as the system crosses the Marianas.
