Effective:
March 17, 2026 - 2:14pm
Expires:
March 18, 2026 - 1:00pm
Description:
The low pressure system in the gulf will continue to push snow
showers over SE AK through the week. With longer days, the
southern panhandle is starting to see high temperatures increase
into the high 30s to low 40s. Average snowfall accumulations
should be around 1 to 3 inches per 24 hours, however due to the
showery nature of the snow, accumulations will be highly variable
with periods of melting in sunny breaks. Isolated areas and higher
elevations could likely see higher snow amounts. The main impact
from times of moderate snow will be lowered visibilities that
could impact travel by air, land, and sea. Heaviest snow showers
can quickly move over an area reducing visibilities to below one
mile, with conditions quickly improving behind the shower.
