Snow showers, briefly heavy at times, continue across the area late this morning, including along and east of Interstate 55. This combined with northwest winds gusting up to 35 mph are resulting in periods of sharply reduced visibility to one quarter mile or less. Use caution if traveling and be prepared for suddenly changing conditions. Allow extra time to reach your destination safely. Reduce speed and keep a safe following distance when driving in poor conditions. Additional snow showers may persist through this evening.
