Description:
At 657 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Head of Grassy, or 7 miles west of Olive Hill, moving east at 40 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Olive Hill, Carter Caves State Park, Gesling, Carter, Grahn, Soldier,
Globe, Brushart, and Warnock.
This includes Interstate 64 in Kentucky between mile markers 150 and
170.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for
northeastern Kentucky.
